According to TX State Law, can a city legally ticket or tow a car without inspection stickers?
Alex A asked:
According to TX State Law, can a city legally ticket or tow a car without inspection stickers that is on your property? The car is in fairly decent condition and not in a junk-yard scenario, and is parked in a driveway.

That sounds really strange. If the car was insured and sitting in a driveway on private property, then they should not have towed it. If it was NOT insured, then the plate should have been turned in.

If its in your drive way and not on the open roads or seen driving then I don't see how this can be valid. A lot of people may not have inspection stickers (i.e. old car, car broken, etc etc). I would challenge this ticket if possible.

i cant see how they can do that! i know here in pa., if you have a car on your property, you have to have a valid sticker and plates on it, or they call it junk, especially if you live in town, but in the country, i think they dont push it as far. i believe if i were you, i would look into it and see where i stood legally, that doesnt sound right to me.

I'm not sure about Texas laws, but some towns have local ordinances prohibiting a homeowner from storing any car in his driveway that doesn't have a valid license plate on it and current registration and inspection stickers. Mainly, that's just to keep people from piling up junk cars in their front yards. Even if you break that law, the most they can do is repeatedly issue you fines until you either get rid of the vehicle, move it into a garage, or get the plates/papers in order. I seriously doubt they can just tow it off your property and impound it.
