most likely you will be ok normally in a full side collision the metal contorting binds the door so it won't open if she hit from the middle of door to the wheel and the wheel didn't break off it should repair. most insurance total if repair costs exceed 65-75% of cars value. here is what happens if the inside of the door isn't bent they put a skin on it just the outer metal shell. if the door is bent inward they replace it, the insurance writes an estimate based on the visible damage only if that doesn't get too expensive they repair, you said it was an SUV that hit you so the damage is fairly high should be mostly sheetmetal work rear fender area new rim some paint and good as new, chances are frame isn't bent. won't take more than 3 hours on frame machine to straiten at usually. no it doesn't take months to get parts even in hawaii they should be able to get parts at the local dealership or bodyshop wholesaler. the only case i have heard of it taking more than a week to get a part was internal parts for a brand new vehicle one of those bought a 07 in 2006 one of the first on the lot and wrecked it really bad (shoved the grill into the engine needed engine parts, and suspention parts) like 3 days later. took a month and a half to get the parts cause they hadn't been released to the car dealer yet. (it was a new model car like a fusion or solstice).

I would have killed that b*tch if she hit my mustang. You will probably have to let the insurance company decide whether or not it is totaled. They know more about it than we do especially without a picture of the damage. I would say if the whole frame isn't bent then it is fixable but if it is it would be better to buy a new mustang.

Hopefully you paid way less than retail for your stang because more than likely they will total it out and largely because of your location. This is a plus for you if they do because you will be paid based not only on the retail value of the stang, but by the replacement cost (what your year and body style used mustang in your general area sells for) would be for your insurance company to buy you another. Case in point; I paid $450 for a 1985 camaro Z-28 and a day later it was totaled. 3 weeks later I got a check from the person's that hit it insurance company for $5500! So I wish you luck- maybe get a newer stang. Hope I helped. Jeremy

Just happened to my wife last year in our 2001 mustang. Total loss..... excess of 10,000 in damage....You should probably start looking for a new car... Even if they do fix it get rid of it ASAP... It will never drive the same..

first of all goto kbb.com and find out your cars value for a perssonal sale to someone. my accidents insurance tryd to say mine was lower than it really was. than the body shop will most likely have to reconstruct or bend your frame out on the passengers side(bout $1,500-$3000 depending on the extensiveness of the damage). a new door can be found at a junk yard($200) or ordered from a ford dealership, which is so much more expensive and takes alot longer. also they'll have to repaint that side of the car (bout $600for a good job), and if it doesnt match they have to paint the entire car ($1500for a good job). than you'll need a rim if its bent (no more than $300). so if all of this adds up to less than the cars value they wont junk it and besides her insurance is paying for it anyway!

Sorry about your trouble. Try going to kbb.com Kelley Blue Book dot com . You can enter your vehicle info and your zip code and it will give you a good idea what your Mustang is worth. Use this as a guide. Remember the insurance company will try to low ball your car....in other words not offer as much as they could. I had a similar situation and the insurance adjuster had me find 3 cars ...same year etc. and they averaged out the prices. Of course all that because the car was totaled.

More than likely, dpeending on the value of the car, they will total it. many times, the price to repair is cheaper than the price to total a vehicle. You will still have the option of keeping the car, but you will need to repair it, because you proabbly have a bent frame which is an expensive repair. Call your local junkyard for parts, and if you can't find them, have them shipped priority from the mainland.

from your description, i don't think its a total loss. they ladys insurance is going to fix your car if they accept responsibility. they will only accept responsibility when it has been determined without a doubt that the other lady was at fault. when you are getting your car fixed, it might be a good idea to ask for a rental in case you don't have any other means of transportation. good luck

03's are still worth a little money so hopefully it won't be a total loss but depending on whether or not the frame is bent will determine alot. Unibody cars don't fare well after crashes because the body and frame are one any damage done to the frame becomes even more extensive
