What's the best way to get rid of a car?

So my Grandma's car broke down and will cost more to fix it than it's worth, so she's gotten a new one, but not sure what the best way to get rid of the old car is. Whether it's just junk it at a junk yard or donate it and try to get a tax write off (if it works like that or not), or if it's another solution. Any ideas?

It's gonna be a toss up between what a junk yard will pay or a donation. You won't know what the donation will be b/c they will auction it off send you the tax notice on what it sold for later. At least a junk yard will pay immediately, but don't expect much of anything. They have to determine what's salvageable.

I just took a 1989 Lincoln with a blown engine to the junk yard and got about $70 for it. More than likely, if the car is going to cost more to repair than it's worth, most car donation places don't want it, at least that was the reaction I got when I tried to donate the Lincoln.

You can usually sell it as a whole, or you can list it on craigslist as a parts car, where people that need parts will individually buy what they need and when nobody else wants any thing off it, then you can sell the rest for scrap metal

the best way is to not juck it, but sell it on and just let type that its been into an acciedent and doesnt run. Sell it for a couple hundred so that way you can help your grandma out with her new car with that money! good luck, i truely hope this helps.
